TRIO KROMA

Meeting with her new trio (Trio KROMA), Elena was in Australia to prepare a programme of rare works for Piano, Voice and Clarinet for their upcoming CD. Trio KROMA performed in 3 recitals in Melbourne and Sydney including a recital at Melba Hall presented by the Lieder Society of Victoria, Australia. The recitals included the iconic Shepherd on the Rock by Schubert as well as Romantic gems by Lachner and Kalliwoda, and newly rediscovered works from the British Library and National Library of Vienna including Proch’s The Captive Nightigale and the amusing and virtuosic vignette The Shepherd and the Mermaid by Lindpaintner, all of which made for a delightful evening of song. At the culmination of the evening’s performance at Melba Hall, Ian Lowe, President of the Lieder Society of Victoria, was presented with copies of all of the rare pieces given their premieres in Australia in these concerts as a token of the Trio’s gratitude and to encourage these works to be performed again.

Trio KROMA is comprised of the acclaimed concert pianist and accompanist, Clemens Leske, who recently appeared as a soloist with the London Philharmonic and the Sydney Symphony, and clarinetist Jason Xanthoudakis, a regular performer with the Melbourne Symphony, and a dedicated scholar of woodwind repertoire.
